God in America

This October 11th through 13th, PBS will run a six hour series titled “God in America”, which will “explore the historical role of religion in the public life of the United States.” The good, the bad and the rest. St. Nicholas’ will be the Primary Local Sponsor of the series, and this will involve not only mention on the series but also opportunities for us to be especially involved in this program. For more information, contact Jane Wolf or check out www.pbs.org/godinamerica/.

Thanks for your enthusiasm, kathy. Fr Liggett is very encouraging about this — but the cost of $2500 has to be raised from among folks in the congregation. It is not in the parish budget.

I’ve invited a representative from BAsin PBS to come Wednesday at 6 to show a short video of highlights from the series and a “profile” of typical PBS viewers — so folks can see if this is something we’d like to do. come if you can. Jane

would if I could. I am under the weather in Abilene waiting to to see an endocrinologist for the diagnoso of adrenal exhaustion..could be Addison’s disease..still waiting for proper test, results and treatment. Been quite ill and trying to find solution for over 2 years now. Several mis-diagnoses until now. Praying and waiting..

Thanks for the info! Will send prayer on this matter!

The money usually comes when it is the will of God is what I have found to be true in my life!

We had a good meeting with a presentation from the PBS folks about being primary local sponsor for the God in America series. The folks there were impressed and want to make it happen. The cost is $2,500 and we need to raise it outside the budget. Sponsorship not only puts us in the series and all re-runs, but also gets us ads on several other PBS shows for three or four months afterwords, links on their website, and other perks. This is a great way to get St. Nick’s better known through the community, and this in a way that very much reflects our identity and mission as a parish.

If you would like to help make it possible, contact Jane Wolf at jane@janewolf.com. I am helping toward this, and I am confident that we will be able to do it.

I forgot to post here that we have raised the money we needed to be the primary local sponsor of God in America for this area–Great news. We are now working on what we want to say in our 15 seconds of fame, the time we have for an ad that will be played on PBS during and around the show.
